Saturday Night at Naka-Kon

Yosh! Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful time, but don’t forget to be responsible as well as safe! Today has been a blast as it always is at Naka-Kon, filled with great people and amazing cosplay. It’s simply an all out enjoyable experience. The day started out fun, and with awesome panels to attend throughout the day, and it never let up. The standout panel for today was the Anime Name That Tune. I’ve attended these sorts of panels in the past and this one was actually crazy fun! The music choices were excellent and appealing to a wide age and demographic. Over the years of attending Naka, one thing remains consistent throughout, and that is the amazing attendees. You can have all the celebrity guests and musical acts you want, but without the people it’s an empty gesture.

I’m actually typing this at the Saturday night dance party, and it just as hype as you’d expect an anime convention late night party to be. No. scratch that. This place is jumping! Musical guest KABUKI opened up the show and are tearing it up. Check out our Gaming Plus Podcast on YouTube for pictures from this weekend as well as an in-depth look at this years con. We will also be uploading updates and pictures to our Facebook and Twitter as well. Don’t Forget to Like, Follow, and Subscribe! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Time to Grow!

Happy New Year! We’ve come a long way since our Comic/Games/More blog before transitioning to this website a few years ago. Thankfully we are still in the progress of growing! The Gaming Plus Podcast has been on You Tube for a while now, but 2018 is the year we truly start to dig in and provide content besides what we post here. This is going to be an exciting time, I cant wait to learn and grow as the year goes on. 2018 is a start of a new journey, and I would like to officially invite you all to join us!

Top Five Fights From the Naruto Series

Over the last 15 years the Naruto series has given us some of the most memorable battles in all of anime to enjoy. As the years went on the scale and scope of these battles increased, and we were given more powerful jutsu and larger stakes. Out of all the battles that have taken place throughout the series what were your favorites? I know its hard to choose, but here our my picks for the top 5 fights in the Naruto series!

#5 Rock Lee vs Gaara

For me, this was the match that set the bar for the rest of the show. Not until this point in the series had we had such a high intensity fight, and what made it so much better was how much of an underdog Rock Lee was entering this match. This not only showcased how dangerous and ruthless Gaara was, but also how bad ass Lee is. The green spandex and bravado are not just for show, Rock Lee is the real deal.

Upcoming Events for Kansas City Area

Is it September already? 2017 is speeding by us, but we still have a couple of cool events for those in the Kansas City area before we bring in the new year. Coming up in October is the KC Japan Festival, held annually at Johnson County Community College. Japan Fest is presented by Kansas City chapter of the Heart of America – Japan America Society. I’ve been going for years and it’s amazing event to experience. It’s a great way to learn about Japanese culture and is something your whole family can enjoy.

For more information about the festival check them out online at http://www.kcjapanfestival.org/

Last but definitely not least is the convention I’ve been waiting all year for, the Kansas City Comic Con! It was scheduled a bit later in the year then it normally is, but I cant think of a better way to end wrap up 2017.

KCCC is back for its thirds year, and is set to build upon its reputation as one of Kansas City’s premiere events. We’ve come to expect amazing celebrities guests, as well as some of the most popular and talented creators in the industry. From just the causal fans to the most die-hard, KCCC is always an extremely enjoyable way to spend a weekend, so don’t forget to get your passes! Stop by http://www.kansascity-comiccon.com/ for more information concerning guests and creator  list, and also any special events that will be taking place during the convention. November cant come soon enough! Hope to see you all there!

Netflix Does Castlevania Better Than Konami

When I first heard that Netflix would be adapting Castlevania into one of their original series, I was extremely excited to see one of the most revered gaming franchises finally brought to life, but also hit with a smidge of dread at how absolutely horrible it could turn out to be. With that being said, I’m so glad this show kicks some major ass.

The four episode season was short and sweet. Long enough to establish the characters and their motivations, and short enough to have us thirsty for more. Castlevania appears to be an adaption of the nes classic Dracula’s Curse,  but has offered some cool takes on the story so far.

The animation and action are incredible, but beware this show is not for the faint of heart. Blood and violence is in abundance and is showing no signs of letting up, actually I’m certain it will get much worse. Watching this series, I can’t help but think what if Netflix made an updated Spawn animated series. Damn.

If you are a fan of Castlevania, or just looking for something good to binge watch, this is definitely what you need. The show starts and ends strong, keeping you glued to the screen. I can only hope season two doesn’t take too much time to get here.
